Unit located at Fl.Pl. Dievenow?

Does anyone know what unit was stationed at Fl.Pl. Dievenow during Sep/Oct-42? Or a source where I might find this? I have a number of FB entries for Bf Rolf Bettaque I'm trying to trace. Thanks in advance.

Possibly Luftnachrichtenschule 6 (See).

Re: Unit located at Fl.Pl. Dievenow?

Seems like there are only two possibilities:

Dievenow (land and sea) (GER) (today: Dziwnów)
General: Fliegerhorst and seaplane station 69 km NNE of Stettin and 58 km W of Kolberg (Kolobrzeg) on the Fritzower See (Lake Fritzower) near the Baltic coast of Pomerania. Ordered established as a Lw. Fliegerhorstkommandantur by 1 October 1936. Paved runway, hangar apron and taxiway.
Remarks:
6 Oct 44: low-level attack by P-51 Mustangs – 4 x Do 18s and 4 x He 111s from Luftnachrichtenschule (See) 6 shot up and severely damaged.
Operational Units: Kü.Fl.Gr. 306 (Mar 37 – Sep 39); Luftdienstkdo. 5 (Oct 38 – Jan 39); Luftdienstkdo. 65 (Jan 39 – Feb 44); 3./Kü.Fl.Gr. 706 (1939 – Sep 39); Kü.Fl.Gr. 806 (Oct-Dec 39); I./Fliegerzielgeschwader 1 (Dec 43 – Jun 44); Fliegerzielgruppe I (Jun 44 – 1945); Minensuchstaffel (Feb-Mar 45).
School Units: Fliegerwaffenschule (See) 3 (Nov 39 – Mar 40); Luftnachrichtenschule (See) 6 (Apr 40 – Sep 44).
Station Commands: Fl.H.Kdtr. A(o) 8/III (Apr 44 – 1945).

Short time spent at Dievenow would rather indicate LNS 6.
But if your FB has Schleppflug, Kurierflug and/or Zieldarstellungsflug entries, it is for sure Ld.Kdo. 65.

Re: Unit located at Fl.Pl. Dievenow?

Hello Jim,

As Bettaque was Bordfunker with the 2./NJG 1 in Venlo since September 1943, I will check my records on him (I have his diary, Flugbuch and several pictures) but I have a faint memory that he was at a Luftnachrichtenschule there.

All the best, Marcel / Venlo

Re: Unit located at Fl.Pl. Dievenow?

Thanks again everyone. I suspect LNS(See) 6 is the correct unit. I couldn't make out the Feldpost # in my copy of the FB. I look forward to what you find Marcel.
