Hi fellow forum members,
November 20th 2011: We are very pleased to announce that the Aircrew Remembrance Society have now had our website archived by the British Library. This means that information sent to the society will be archived - forever, your relatives sacrifice will always be remembered for future generations.
The UK Web Archive contains websites that publish research, that reflect the diversity of lives, interests and activities throughout the UK. Sites that no longer exist elsewhere will still be available via the British Library.
Often they contain information that is only available online. Responding to the challenge of a potential "digital black hole" the UK Web Archive is there to safeguard as many of these websites as practical. Its purpose is to collect, preserve and give permanent access to key UK websites for future generations.
The UK Web Archive will also be stored in the British Library's secure digital repository, designed to enable the UK to preserve and make accessible its digital output forever, as well as offering further opportunities of searching across various kinds of archive.
In 2012 we are striving to preserve more memories on our remembrance pages, If any forum members would like to contribute any of their research material to our worthy cause we would be delighted to hear from you.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from us all at the Aircrew Remembrance Society.
Melvin
