Albacore BF777, 841 Sqn 03/08/43?

Hello everyone

Can anyone help me with individual code letter(s) for the above 841 Sqn Albacore, shot down by flak on August 3rd 1943 off Barfleur?

The pilot, Sub-Lt (A) F. W. E. Dixon was killed, but his Observer, Sub-Lt F. R. Schofield was picked up by an RAF Walrus after 10 hours afloat in a dinghy.

Many thanks.

Regards,

Simon

Re: Albacore BF777, 841 Sqn 03/08/43?

Hello Simon,
You may know that the Squadron Diary for 841 is at the National Archives, file reference ADM207/30. I have earlier entries from this diary but, sadly, not for that date.

I will be surprised if that doesn’t contain the ID. If not, there may be another route.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce

I'm hoping to get to the National Archives early next year, so will add this to my ever-expanding list of things to find.

Regards

Simon
