Re: Otto Moßmann - NJG 1

Hello,

according to his son his Name was Moßmann or Mossmann. In 1940 he was in IV./NJG 1 and in 1941 he was flying againstEngland. He was either Bordschütze or Bordfunker. His commander was Major Ehle.

Thats all the Information I got.

Best wishes

Re: Otto Moßmann - NJG 1

Hello Uwe,

I can't find your man either, but Ehle (whilst still an Oblt.) served as Staffelkapitän of 3./NJG1 in June-September 1940, and as Gruppenkommandeur of II./NJG1 in the rank of Hptm.-Major onwards from October 1940 until he was killed in action on 17/18.11.1943. It therefore appears that Otto Mossmann served in II./NJG1.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Theo

Re: Otto Moßmann - NJG 1

Hello Theo,

I agree and in this case IV./NJG 1 may have a wrong spelling for 4./NJG 1 which was part of the II./NJG 1. Nevertheless, I can't find any Herr Mossmann too. There are some conflicting details: if 'flying against Engeland' is true, one thinks of the pre September 1940 history of the II./NJG 1 (alias I./ZG 76) but taking MAJOR Ehle as a established truth, Mossmann could have been with the II./NJG 1 in 1943.

Dear Uwe, each additional piece of info is welcome ! All the best,

Marcel
