P-40 wreck found in Egyptian desert

Dear Gang,

even it has nothing to do with Luftwaffe stuff someone here might be interested in having a glance at

https://picasaweb.google.com/1146825...eat=directlink

I ran across that at the LBB discussion board. This link was posted there by member pilot05. Feel free to cast an eye...

Cheers
Norbert

Re: P-40 wreck found in Egyptian desert

Hello,

From
http://www.vintagewings.ca/Home/tabi...fault.aspxello,

Looks like the P-40 was that of W/C "Stocky" Edwards, coded "HS-B".
Could it be a "Merlin" powered Mk II of the "FL" serial range ?
Alex

Re: P-40 wreck found in Egyptian desert

It is not a Merlin engine .The P-40 in the photo has a air scoop on top of the nose,Merlin engine P-40's did not have this,
On another form someone contacted W/C Edwards and he said he never crashed a P-40 like that.

Rick

What forum was that reference to W/C Edwards ?

I think it is accepted he never crashed this one, but he may have flown it previously in 1942

Thanks

Paul

Re: P-40 wreck found in Egyptian desert

Hi Paul, sorry I didnt save the link ,I got from one of the model Airplane forums.
With so many forums having this P-40 I can't remember were I seen it. Sorry.
Your correct in it may have flew it because of the code letters.
I have his book which I need to dig out but seems like everyone else has done that.
