P/O G Baird 20.10.40 picked up by Seaplane?

In 'Sam' McHardys diary he makes reference to Baird being picked up by a Luftwaffe seaplane on 20. 10. 1940 after being shot down as a local W/T Intel Stn picked up the message?

Could any one help with the unit etc.,

Kind Regards

Andy Bird
