Stabstaffel JG 51

Looks like a very successful unit but too little heard of.
Is it known how many kills it bagged and at which cost?

Thanks.

Chris

RT is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Stabstaffel JG 51

The successes could be explained by the large number of people/planes used by this unit, many more it seems as an usual Stabstaffel,

Why so much people ?? 20+ pilots 20+ planes at war-end

Was it already the case in 1943 ,,??

Stabsstaffel JG 51

Hello Remi

The Stabsstaffel of JG 51 was formed on 26 November 1942 from 6./JG 51. It was often deployed on Jabo missions but also had considerable success in the fighter role. Notable aces that flew with the unit include von Eichel-Streiber, Thiel, Hübner, Hafner, Lüddecke, Tanzer, Schönfelder, Rauch, Bauer and Petzschler. It should not be confused with the Geschwaderstab of JG 51. I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Leo
