Do 17 P-1 Wk Nr 153

Does anyone have a history of this ac? I have a photo which shows the ac after a starboard undercarriage collapse and an unidentified badge on the nose of a diving eagle with something in its talons

Re: Do 17 P-1 Wk Nr 153

Chris,

I won a photo of this one on eBay recently. I have this as 6M+?K and probably WNr. 4153, of 2.F)/123 down somewhere in the Balkans or Russia. in 1941. It appears to have a yellow starboard cowling ring. Can provide you a copy if you'd like. Our EoE Loss/Damages DB doesn't go into 1941, so I've got no way to ID the a/c specifically.

Regards,

Re: Do 17 P-1 Wk Nr 153

Code means F11, indeed F11 hv a lot of P-1 on that range of Wn , accidently auch the 4153.

Hello,

Remé is correct, someone entered the unit incorrectly in the EoE DB. This should be 2.(F)/11.

Larry: Would be interested to see your photo thanks
Remi: Do we have a match for a loss of 2/11? Wk Nr definitely 153 and what would appear to be yellow cowling and possibly red spinners

Re: Do 17 P-1 Wk Nr 153

I think, that the only possibility is:
1941-04-16, 2.(F)/11, Do 17P-1, 4153, Horopan, Rollschaden. Bruch 40 %.
According to my files, there is no other Do 17P with WNr. ending with 153.

Hello,

I think that Matti has it. Does anyone know in which country "Horopan" is? Like to get my photo captioned correctly. The photos of Chris and I are the same a/c, but from different sides.

Regards,

Re: Do 17 P-1 Wk Nr 153

Hello,

There is no place named "Heropan" that I can locate, nor exactly "Horopan" either. It looks like it could be a place in what is now Macedonia, but this isn't clear to me. Anybody know where this place is? Was it the German name for a Greek airfield?

Regards,
