Re: Cusäng Karl +++6 juni 1943

Hello Mike,

if You picked up that name from a handwritten inscription (that's what i believe) Your request may lead in the off. As far as i know there is no surname Cusäng (obviously it's strange slang for Cousin) in German existing and the meaning of "Cusäng Karl" for sure is "Cousin Karl".

Best Regards
Norbert

Re: Cusäng Karl +++6 juni 1943

Norbert's explanation is quite logical, because in Luftwaffe losses we cannot find any Cusäng. This might fit:
1943-06-06, 7./KG 1, Ju 88A-14, 144438, V4+9R, (841/35 Ost), Motorstörung. Bruch 100 %.
Flugzeugführer Lt Prinz, Karl, vermißt
Kampfbeobachter Fw Scholler, Gerhard, vermißt
Bordfunker Uffz Arnold, Joachim, vermißt
Bordschütze Uffz Dippel, Jakob, vermißt

Re: Cusäng Karl +++6 juni 1943

..that´s funny. But it is exactly so as Norbert said - in germany we say "cusäng" and indeed it means cousin. Perhaps the writer didn´t know how to write Cousin, so he has written it as he said it. Or he wrote it in a funny mood.
So - there´s only a Cousin Karl without a surname

Regards - Rainer

Re: Cusäng Karl +++6 juni 1943

Mike,

the inscription reads in German: "Zum Andenken an Cusäng Karl. Vermißt mit 6. Juni 1943 in Rußland. 110 Feindflüge."

And the translation in English is: "In Memory of Cousin Karl. Missing in Action over Russia with Date of 6th June 1943. 110 Missions."

Best Wishes
Norbert

Matti

The unit code V4+9R looks strange. Is this a misprint of yours or is it what the records says?

Cheers

Stig, I know the problem. That code cannot be correct. It might be my typing error or originating from NVM. I'll try to comfirm reason, but it takes time.

A very minor problem Matti

No trouble on my account. I just thought it was something which might easily be solved.

Cheers
