RAF Station Debden ORB 1940

Hi,

Is there anyone with a copy of RAF Debden ORB AIR 28/187 (Apr 1937-Dec 1940) who can confirm if it mentions any combats involving No.25 Sqn on the 21/22 October 1940?

There is a claim for a damaged Ju 88 made by an unknown pilot of No.25 Sqn at 17:55 on the night 21/22 Oct 1940 in RAF Fighter Command Victory Claims of WW2, Vol 1 by John Foreman. There is nothing about this claim in No.25 Sqn ORB but I hope the Station ORB have some decisive information in either direction.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Re: RAF Station Debden ORB 1940

There is a claim for a Ju-88 damaged by Duke-Wooley at 1750 (FC3; CR: Air 50/97-34) 10 m NW of Beachy Head, of 253 Sqn in Hurricane I V6813. I wonder if Foreman's 25 Sqn is a typo for 253 Sqn? I have nothing for 25 Sqn this date, or by anyone at 1755.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Thanks for the reply,

Not an unlikely possibility but when I checked the book the claim by Duke-Wolley is also there. Considering the number of claims in the book it is not unlikely to find some mistakes like unit-numbers or dates. Anyway I will continue to keep my eyes open for any possible information.

Regards,
Peter
