Where is "Nortre Dame" AF in Belgium?

Hello,

I have a photo of a Ju87B-1 from 9./StG51 which was either force-landed or was temporarily abandoned in a field during the WC in Belgium. One of the prints of this photo (several views exist) says this was at "Notre Dame" AF in Belgium. Does anyone know where this is? Was III./StG51 ever based there during the WC/FC of May-June, 1940? Since I have photos of this in the EoE Photo DB from several sides and directions, I can see that there are no other a/c visible on the landing field, nor any wrecks suggesting a previous Allied airbase, just a large grassy field bordered on one side by a thick grove of conifer trees. There are no buildings or other structures that would suggest a developed airfield. So, where is this place? The insignia on the unit's aircraft changed in June, so this is probably during May, 1940.

Thanx, as always, for your help.

Regards,

Larry Hickey

Re: Where is "Nortre Dame" AF in Belgium?

Hello Larry,

I am not familiar with a place called 'Notre Dame" as this word is usually (or always) composed. "Foy-Notre-Dame" near Dinant would be a possible candidate but I don't know if an airstrip even exists there in May '40. However, 6./JG 51 set in Dinant on the 26/05/40.
Perhaps a view of the landscape can help.

Here exists in Belgium:
Foy-Notre-Dame, 6 km East of Dinant
or
Notre-Dame au Bois (near Antoing)
or
Notre-Dame-au-Bois (near Auderghem)
Perhaps others also.

Best regards
