That looks like a field grave close to where he crashed, the initials are wrong as well.
Searching for the service number on the CWGC gives Flight Sergeant William Thomas Allen, RAFVR of No.238 Sqn buried at El Alamein War Cemtery, so at some point after that photograph was taken he was moved. He is recorded as being killed on the 2nd November 1942.
