Luftwaffe aircraft propeller??

Hi guys,
some years ago I bought this heavy damaged propeller...the seller told me it cames from a german bomber shut down in Normandy during the D-day...ok I know it's a beautiful story but probably too much too be true!!
BTW the propeller (or what it's remain) it's in wood with a metal base, there are some code on it, probably the serial number...and a simbol that means it was a 3-props engine ( or I think so...)
Do you have some idea??
What kind of airplane can be?
Can be identificated?
I found out it is very similar to a Ju-88 prop but some has metal blades, other wood blades...I don't know
Thanks for any help

Davide

Hi there Drago,

Just back from a trip I catch up with your question. though I'm by no means a specialist in German propellers, my guess would go towards a Jumo 213 equipped plane; thus either a Ju 88 G-6 or a Fw 190 D-9.

I hope other more knowledgeable forum visitors will be able to help you out with the numbers your pictures do show...

Cheers
Marc

At the bottom of the page linked below is an image of a D9 prop under going restoration for Luftwaffenmuseum at Berlin. The stamping is very similar, although it appears to be metal.

Thanks for all the info everybody!

At the base (on the botton wood) I can only read a numerical code that seems 604 or at least finish with 04
Can be useful?
