Lt Whitlock 48th FG,1st Dec 1944

Lt Joseph T Whitlock, 48th FG/ 493rd FS bailed out of his P-47 near Aachen on 1st Dec 1944 and evaded capture.
What was his tailnumber and what were the circumstances of his crash?
