Re: Photos + 11-29-05
Hi Ed, due to the height of the fir trees in the back ground, the 262's appear to be at Obertraubling (Waldwerk Stauffen). Very best, and thanks, Dan

Re: Photos + 11-29-05
Dear Ed,
Ah, finally, some Me 262 photos! I have to disagree, though, with Dan's conclusion. The two photos to the left were clearly taken along the Autobahn. The other two to the right are essentially the same photo. Note the soldiers' helmets. Most likely the soldiers were in a jeep passing by along the Autobahn. Thus, I believe these are all Autobahn shots, not Waldwerk Stauffen. Regards, Richard |

Re: Photos + 11-29-05
Very true Richard, but note the "trails" cut into the woods at Obertraubling, leading up to Regensburg and the Autobahn both. A number of Flugbuch describe taking 500xxx series 262's off from the autobahn there. The firs at Scheppach don't seem to appear to be as tall as those shown in these photos. Hard to truley be certain.

The pic of the Bf 110 @
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6231589301 There appears to be factory codes, but what about that "9" at the rear? I don't belive it is a result of camou application.

Bf 110 B O + A G
Steven,
Concerning the Bf 110 B O + A G, there is indeed a "9" applied to the rear fuselage (yellow?). This is almost certainly the aircraft's Truppenkennzeichen, in this instance, a number applied by a training school. My references are not to hand, but I seem to remember that this is a Bf 110C-2 and was probably assigned to a night fighter school at the time the eBay photo was taken. A reference to its loss from the LwGQM daily materiel loss reports is available. I've no doubt that Sven Carlsen, Tom Willis, the Luftwaffe Experten, or one of the community's other SKZ mavens can say more about this airplane. RA |
