Bf 109G-2 wk.nr. 14798

Hi Guys

Does anyone have any further information on this aircraft and pilot?

Here is all I have so far...

Messerschmitt 109G-2 wk.nr. 14798 possibly Black 10 of 8./JG5
Built by WNF in November 1942 . Factory codes GJ+QP . Shot down on 30.3.44 by Russian AA fire . Uffz. Emil Hein made a successful force landing several kilometres east of Lk.Memek -javr, escaping to his own lines on skis.

TIA
Dave

Hi Dave

Probably the same amount of info as I have. Think I might have the combat from Soviet records via Rune - going back a few years though!

regards

Re: Bf 109G-2 WNr.14798

I have no more on the G-2 airframe, but as to the pilot:
Uffz. Emil Hein was made P.o.W., wounded, on 30.June 1944 after having been shot down on 28.June in Bf 109G-6 WNr.20509 "schwarze 10" of 8./JG 5 in combat over Subowka Bay with Yak-7 (Capt. Petrenko).

Re: Bf 109G-2 wk.nr. 14798

According to my data most of the Bf 109G-2 of this batch went factory-fresh into the north - both directly to JG 5 as to units of the Finnish Airforce. For service (and of course time of repair) this WNr batch seems to me as being produced too late to have served in Northern Africa.

Regards

Roland

Wouldn't be the first time that we've seen aircraft being painted in desert schemes in the factory or a Luftpark/depot only to be sent somewhere else.
