Question Han Reiff,DKiG

Gentlemen,

Fhj.Fw. Hans Reiff's victory score was 54,all against the Soviets. The 54th victory was scored in the middle of spring of 1943. His unit was JG-3 "Udet". Reiff was moved to Germany for defense against US warplanes. He was killed in action on Dec.2,1944. I wonder if Reiff scored any victories against the Western Allies before his death? If so it would have been surprised me that they were not recorded at all.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Hans Reiff, DKiG

Hello Edward

It appears that he did not claim any success against the Western Allies. The situation in the west was vastly different from what many veterans from the Eastern Front were accustomed to and sometimes they had a rather difficult time adjusting to such. Perhaps Reiff was one of these? Here is what I hve been able to find on this particular pilot. Any comments or corrections would be appreciated.

Horrido!

Re: Han Reiff,DKiG

Hi Edward

I found fifty-five claims for him against the Soviets from 20th May 1942 until 2nd May 1943, he was wounded on 11th December 1943, so may very well have not had much combat after that, strangely he did seem to flip from 7./JG 3 to 8./JG 3 and back!

Kind Regards

Johannes
