What was the total aircraft strength of the RAF in May 1945 and August 1945
Guys I would appreciate knowing how many first and second line aircraft the RAF had on strength on VE Day in May 1945 and VJ Day in August 1945.
I appreciate we may never know down to the last aircraft but best estimates of all types from Fighters, Bombers, Flying Boats, Transport, Trainers and miscellaneous would be useful. I am also wondering if Gliders should also be included, as they were given serial numbers and record cards? Any help gratefully received!
