Looking for contact in Serbia

Hi all,

I am interested in Danube mine laying operations and as such I am looking for some contact on Serbia, or any other former Yugoslavian states, to help with local research related to 205 Group RAF actions.
Anyone can help or give a contact to some researchers?
Thanks

Re: Looking for contact in Serbia

Hello Peter!

I am not Serbian, but I remembered a old thread about Danube mining where I mentioned you the Kriegstagebuch der Seekriegsleitung -series of war diaries ( http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=21203 ).

Some of the German Naval Staff war diaries are available in Internet as English translations:

Hope there is something interesting,
Kari

Re: Looking for contact in Serbia

There is a book explicitly dealing with Danube mining in WWII by 205th RAF GP and the earlier commando missions at the Iron Gates. I have the book though need to look for it between many of my WWII books. An other book partially dealing with this subject is " From Darkness Through Light "

Re: Looking for contact in Serbia

Peter,
There is also the 2011 book Bombers Over Sand and Snow: 205 Group RAF in World War II, by Alun Granfield, published by Pen & Sword. ISBN 978-1-84884-528-2. 383 pages. It is quite good.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Re: Looking for contact in Serbia

Peter,
I believe it does, but I haven't read it carefully, and have no way of comparing it with actual 205 Group records. It looks to be pretty much a daily look at 205 Group ops.

Enjoy!

Frank.
