Hello Ed,

And thanks for this original serie of finds!

This one:

Note one Bf 109G-14/AS WNr.78577?
Last four digit stenciled on fuselage like famous 8./JG27 "Blaue 11", 785750.

In France, really??

A B-17 tailfin is depicted among those photographs and several Ju 388L-0(?) wrecks, one with the WNr 340300 (PG+YA, first Ju 388L-0/V7?) on its tailfin. Rechlin or Dessau airfields?

Roland

Re: Photos 4-13

Thanks Roland to reduce the field of investigation ...
And the construction far in Ju388 back ground is the same than the one close to Bf 109.

Regards, Franck.

Re: Photos 4-13

The Fliegerhorst with the Ju 388 is Kölleda in Thuringia.
And the Ju 388 V7 PG+YA had the W-Nr. 300001, not 340300. The 340300 is an ATG built Ju 388 L-1.

Peter

Re: Photos 4-13

Peter Achs is right. Having checked my Vernaleken book, PG+YA indeed wore the WNr 300001 (quoting from memory I had added question marks). WNr 340000 is unknown in this book.
Regarding the location of the photograph it might be taken at the Junkers works ATG (Werk 3) at Leipzig-Mockau. The hangars there were filled with semi-completed and partly destroyed Ju 388s with adjoining WNrn like 340301 and 340307. See also my post #49 here:

Re: Photos 4-13

Can you read? The location is Kölleda. Compare the buildings of a airplane factory (ATG) with the hangars of a Fliegerhorst.

And what is "Junkers works ATG"? ATG did not belong to Junkers but to Flick.

Please inform before writing. Thank you.

Regards
Peter
