The Kassel Mission, 27.09. 1944
Reading one of the questions on this board about high losses of the 8th USAAF:
Highest BG losses were on sep.27-1944 when 35 out of 39 B-24's (445 BG)were shot down by Lw.Sturmgruppe fighters, most of them within only 7 minutes, most crashes in a relatively small area near Eisenach. US-historians presented after a research over more than 18 years an impressive 88 min.-documentary about this mission only last X-mas 2005 giving details, rare camera-shots, intervieuws with pilots from both sides and survivers, German civilians, (gun)-camerashots etc. Available on PAL video.
