Re: Photo : hit-by -Flak-Ju88 - 1943

Likely suspects would be from 8./KG 1 (WNr. 8801) or KG 26 (WNr. 144182 or 144405), with a slim outside chance for III./KG 51 (Wnr. 144436). Unfortunately there's not enough information as to location. And that's assuming the date with the photo is correct!

Re: Photo : hit-by -Flak-Ju88 - 1943

In my opinion, none of abowe. I read 13 or 15 June 1943.

Kuban was in Crimea, Luftflotte 4. We can agree on last letter "S" of 8th Staffel or "C" of III Gruppen but no other loss in lists appears to match that Staffeln, Group, date, Operational area. Version is A-4 (later), D-1 (later) D-5, C-6. Aerodynamically balanced rudder.

Despite best of intentions, I suspect date is perhaps not valid crash date: Bruxelles is Belgium, long way from Ukraine and ink stamp of agency SIPO S.A. and date 13.07.1943 appear the same.. same colour and wetness. Thus something like date of picture released, or recived.
Curiosly paper in print appears quite new (White) but old sniplet of text on very "old-ish" looking paper stock, with ink-spirit duplicated text. Does not ring true to my eyes. But I may be wrong.

Regards
Ed

Ed, you're right, it is Jun-43 - I didn't scroll down far enough and was going by caption from the seller. There are a couple of III./KG 1 losses for 13-Jun, but still from Lfl.6.

Re: Photo : hit-by -Flak-Ju88 - 1943

The III./KG 51 was on Crimea bases during June 1943 and flew missions over the Cuban area. Early July 1943 the group was moved to Central Russia.

On 5.Jul.43 the Ju 88A-4 WNr. 8836 9K+YS made a forced landing after Flak damage at Orel-West with a resulting damage degree of 70%. I assume that’s the aircraft from the photo.

The date given by the photo caption “13-07-1943” is the release date of this official photo.
