Tobruk - june 30, 1941
Hi Guys,
what are the Squadrons equipped with P-40s on june 30, 1941 in north Africa? 250 Sqn and...? On this date Allied pilots ran into a formidable force of enemy aircraft. The job was a protective patrol of a convoy of ships taking stores to the garrison in Tobruk. This convoy was attack in several sorties (morning and afternoon) by Ju 87s, Bf 109s, Bf 110s and Fiat G.50s. The Allied Squadrons involved are 73 Sqn (Hurricanes), 250 Sqn (P-40), 274 Sqn (Hurricanes) 1 SAAF (Hurricanes)... but... ...for me there was other Squadron with P-40s... but what is it? Thanks, Daniele. |

Re: Tobruk - june 30, 1941
The second P-40 unit was 2SAAF, but didn't enter operations until 15th July.
I checked this in Chris Shores' latest book on the subject. |
