8/10-1944

Gents
On 8/10-44 at 18:15 hours a German bomber believed to be a He 111 of 7.KG 3 took of on a mission. Apparently it was shot Down as a crew member was washed ashore in Denmark on 2/12-44.
The letter informing the Family about the loss was written by Leutnant and Staffelführer Horst Leutloff L 60097/Hamburg 1.
Is theer anyone who can support with information ?
Best regards

Re: 8/10-1944

I thought by Oct 44, 7/KG 3 had become 1/KG 53 and had moved from Venlo to Varrelbusch? I know there was a grey period and if you want me to check further, I have the NVM at home

Re: 8/10-1944

I think the Gruppe was operating from Varrelbusch at the time. In its evening strength return on 9 October it reported 20 (7) aircraft and 49 (27) crews;
He 111 H-16 W.Nr. 161898 was missing.
