Gustav Rodel 4/JG27 - aircraft markings 1st Dec 1941
I am keen to find out what aircraft unit number Rodel would have been flying in Dec 1941 in his type F - in Makos book A Higher Call Stigler states Rodel was flying Yellow 4 in April 42 as Sqn Ldr of 4 Saffel however the unit marking of 4 staffel was white numerals - Stiglers aircraft was White 12...... I understand yellow numerals was the colour of 6 staffel JG27.
It transpires from my research that Rodel could have shot down a hurricane from 274 Sqn on the 1st Dec 41 that I have a personal interest in hence my question. I know what no. airframe he was flying on that day, just not what staffel number it displayed. I don't know if for some reason Rodel always flew an aircraft marked yellow 4 despite the staffel colour confusion or he would have been using a chevron as his standard marking. Thanks for any help |
