Bf 109E-3 II./ JG77 (?)

Hi

Could anybody feel some information on this aircraft?

Is a Bf 109E-3 (?) II. JG 77. The pilot's name and the place?
A Hug to all,

Re: Bf 109E-3 II./ JG77 (?)

Hi.

It's a Bf 109E with cannon in the wing.

As the pilot in question continued to use the cockpit-framing from the early Bf 109's even on Bf 109F-series, I do not want to speculate further on the subtype. (It is thus a E-3 or E-4 depending on the engine type which one cannot tell from this photograph)

BTW, the pilot is Horst Carganico, Adjutant in II./J.G.77.

Regards,
Andreas B

Hi Andreas,

Thank you very much for the information.
Would I like to know in this time H. Carganico was in Finland?
Great hug,

Re: Bf 109E-3 II./ JG77 (?)

Hi.

At the time this photo was taken (with almost 100% certainty) the II./J.G.77 was in Norway, operating from the airfields Sola-Stavanger and Vaernes mostly.

Andreas B

Re: Bf 109E-3 II./ JG77 (?)

Hi all:
This photo was published in Prien's Jagdfliegerverbände Vol II, page 473.
According to Jochen Prien, the pilot is Wilhelm Moritz.
About the date, the caption says "II/JG77 Adjutant's machine flying over the North Sea coast during Spring 1940".
Saludos
Miguel
