Hi,
We're very happy to announce that Part Two of our
Wüstennotstaffel eArticle is now available for download from the following location:
http://www.airwarpublications.com/earticles/frontline
This part completes the story of the German desert rescue squadron, covering the unit's operations from May 1942 until the end of the Tunisian campaign on 13 May 1943. Adam and Andrew were able to uncover some pretty fascinating stories, including a
Wüstennotstaffel sabotage operation (planned by Heinz Kroseberg prior to his death), the capture and subsequent escape of a
Wüstennotstaffel pilot from the SAS and LRDG, and many desert rescues.
We have included some previously unpublished first-hand accounts by
Staffelkapitän Heinz Ebert, as well as photographs, two colour profiles of Fi 156s operated by the unit, lists of unit losses and personnel rescued, and four of Morten's excellent maps.
Downloading both parts of the
Wüstennotstaffel eArticle will provide you with the complete story of a most interesting little
Luftwaffe unit, and we hope you enjoy what we've put together.
Regards,
Andrew, Adam & Morten
