Finnish publisher Apali bankcrupcy

The publisher of the Red Stars series went unfortunately bankcrupt last month. Apparently the remaining book stocks were purchased by a sales book chain Kirjapörssi.

Re: Finnish publisher Apali bankcrupcy

The owner of and the brain behind the company died in August this year. Apparently there was no capable fellow to pick up the torch (the company did have serious financial difficulties at that time).

Re: Finnish publisher Apali bankcrupcy

The legacy of Apali are notable and in some respect ground-breaking books.

I point out C. F. Geust (& Co.) books on Soviet air forces in Winter War (Red Stars vol. 5 and vol. 7). Most of the material in English on Winter War and specially on its airwar aspect has been published from Finnish point of view ("good guys") and the Soviet point of view ("bad guys") has remained rather unknown until the appereance of Red Stars Vol. 5 and Vol. 7. They are essential books and references to anyone who wants to study or invetigate the air war of Winter War.

I think that Apali made a great work by publishind Red Stars volumes which has much interest also outside of Finland. Also their other books are noteworthy and hopefully available for interested readers in future.

Re: Finnish publisher Apali bankcrupcy

Indeed sad news

Anyone with the slightest interest in Finland's eastern neighbour should of course have all ten books they published.
