Hello , i am trying to find out more concerning the Above pilot .
Nco 1080049 William Joseph Johnston . 5 PAFU -May-June 42. 52 OTU , June -Aug 42 Baled out-Safe ,Spitfire P8148, 12/7/42. 132 Sqd, Sept 42. Possibly 72 Sqd Sept 43 (can anyone confirm this ORB mentions a WJ Johnston but no serial No. End of Tour June 44 Comm to 189859 11/12/44.Survived War does anyone know of him trying to contact him or family member TIA Phill Jones |

The 72 Sqn Historian is Tom Docherty, who may well be able to help with your queries. He authored the three volume history of 72: 'Swift to Battle'; it covers the period 1937-1961.
