What happened to "Rags"?

Does anyone know what happened to Wing Commander AC Rabagliati? I have reference to him MIA July 6, 1943 when he was Wing leader based at Fairwood Common. But I also have "we were very grieved when he was killed.."

Re: What happened to "Rags"?

Roadstead Dutch coast on Typhoon EK273 of 195 Sqn, hit by ships flak near Den Helder, crashed into North Sea about 60 miles off Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Baled over sea but could not be rescued.
Henk.

Thank you Henk. All I had was "we were very grieved when Rags was killed, especially after all we had been through together in Malta".

Hi
Rabagliati was actually Wing Leader at Coltishall from May 11th 1943 (not Fairwood Common) and normally led the Spitfires based there, however on 6/7/43 he was leading the Typhoons based at Matlaske - which also came under his command -and was flying EK273 of 195 Sq when he was shot down ( see Aces High )

EK273 was coded "JE - DT" and was the normal mount of Sqn Ldr Don "Butch" Taylor, the OC of 195 Sqn from Ludham, Coltishall's second satellite field (195 not moving from Ludham to Matlask until the end of July 1943 (spelling of Matlask in Coltishall's ORB does not have an e at the end of it)). The aircraft from all three airfields were operated as one unit, hence aircraft from different squadrons jumped about from airfield to airfield within the sector on a daily basis. The aircraft had 'Donald Duck' nose art on the port side (acording to a number of Typhoon decal sheets and the new Corgi model of the aircraft). Does anybody have a good picture of this nose art, as I'm doing a profile of this aircraft for an upcoming book about Coltishall.
