Lt. James DesJardins

Hi, does anyone have additional information regarding the loss of his aircraft on 25th November 1944?
Aircraft: P-51D Mustang (Squadron was converting to this type from the P47D Thunderbolt). Aircraft Serial Number: 44-15133. Unit: 360th Fighter Squadron. Squadron Code: PI- ? Details: Lost 25 Nov 44 – Pilot: Lt. James A DesJardins, KIA. MACR: 10472. I cannot find DesJardins in the American Battle Memorial website as a casualty and post war there are several references to Major and Colonel DesJardins, which mightt indicate he survived.
3 P51's were lost that day, 2 in the vicinity of Hagenau, one to JG/7 and one to JG/6 at about noon, and about 4 pm one near Strassbourg.
Any details appreciated..

Re: Lt. James DesJardins

Good evening Icare9 !

Your man is 2nd Lt. James A. Des Jardins, USAAF/sn 0-830187. He was shot down on November 25 1944 close to Einhausen, 7 km SE Meiningen in Thuringia, Germany, and was killed. A railway-AA element of 14th Flak Division claimed the downing of his a/c.

His temporary postwar restplace was Neuville, Begium and today his remains rest somewhere in Wisconsin.

You may gain more detailed information in his MACR and in the German LGK-report # 2532.

All the best !

Re: Lt. James DesJardins

Horst, many thanks! I was curious to see if this was a Me262 victory, but not the case!
This looks to be near Nurenberg, seems a heck of a way from Martlesham Heath!
Thanks again, Kevin
