Data plate from an Italian K-4?
I am posting an image of a data plate found in an Italian excavation site where apparently were found the first remains of the plane on which S.M. Ferdinando Zanardi was shot down on 19 April 1945.
Since, according to his flight logbook on that day he was flying a Bf 109 K-4 (one of the only two or three received a few days earlier by the ANR's Italian 2° Gruppo Caccia, similarly to what happened to 1° Gruppo), if - there are a lot of "if", I know - this is confirmed this would be a very interesting crash site, to say the least. Unfortunately all the other small metal pieces extracted so far do not allow any identification of the version of the plane, and I know that the data plate is certainly relative to some mechanical part, but since hope is the last to die, I wonder if this plate could mean something more. Thanks for any insight.
