Re: Die verbotene Luftwaffe 1918-1938. 20 Jahre Österreichische Militärflugzeuge
It may be of interest for presumptive buyers of this book to know what the "ÖFH Nachrichten" have to say in this matter in its latest number (1/15) - "ÖFH Nachrichten" being the Information Magazine for and by Austrian Flight Historians.
Three persons (with full names) give their view of this new book in the Austrian Flight magazine, and they are not very pleased or amused... Rupert Reisinger, who put the book together, has obviously copied at least parts of his book, word by word, from other books, biographies and brochures. Also taken about 20 drawings from different ÖFH Publications. And - there's no mention of all this in the book's source and literature directory - nothing... Furthermore, on an other level, they report quite a few misspellings, wrong names and other mishaps in the text. With all the criticism(and there's quite a lot of it!) and to be fair, the editor of the magazine says that it is in fact the first book trying to depict the Austrian Luftwaffe between the wars. Thought you should know... Hans K |

Re: Die verbotene Luftwaffe 1918-1938. 20 Jahre Österreichische Militärflugzeuge
Just received the book this afternoon
Being non-German speaking and having a rudimentary knowledge only about the language I cannot speak for any faulty spellings etc. At face value I find the book very good. It contains exactly what I expected and wanted. Having subscribed to the ÖFH magazine and their various publications as well for many years (not all), this book covers what they have failed to write for the past 30-35 years or so. It is highly detailed with regard to the aircraft used (which is my main interest) and the photos and tables are very interesting. Especially the detailed list of all the known aircraft used between November 1918 and November 1919 when no doubt the Allied Control Commission put their fingers in the pie :-) Only wish is someone from all other nations in the broken up Empire would do the same! The book DOES contain a reference source list and my copy also had an errata page enclosed. If Austrian military aviation 1918-38 is anyone's cup of tea, and you don't have too much already about, this is your book! Cheers Stig |
