				Ace High

My Uncle George Bye flew 30 missions with the 447th Bomb Group (708th Squadron) out of Rattlesden. According to relatives his B17 was named 'Ace High'. I have been able to find a reference to Ace High in an obituary that also links the name to a/c 42-31144. I find that 42-31144 was shot down on April 29, 1944. I believe my Uncle flew his missions between Jan 44 and April 44. The 447th web site has a different name (Rowdy Rebel or Miss America) for 42-3144. I think someone else inherited his plane when he was shipped back to the states. I can't seem to find any other reference to Ace High. Was it common for a new pilot to rename his plane? Does anyone have any other info on a B17 Ace High?
