Request for Information on Ju-88C-2 Pilot Notes and cockpit and external views
On another forum a group of dedicated flight simulation enthusiasts are hoping to create a flyable Ju-88C-2 which will require detailed 3D modelling of the cockpit as well as the external model.
Currently after much searching through the internet they have drawn a blank on information specifically detailed images of the cockpit, pilot notes and also external views of the aircraft (required to model accurately from) The model once completed will be given to the flight simulation community for free to use in the WW2 combat flight simulation IL2: Cliffs of Dover, so this isn't a commercial endeavour it is being done as a hobby only by a talented group of 3D modellers. I know this forum contains some of the best aviation historians so hope you don't mind me posting the message here and seeing if anyone can help with information, images, schematics, etc, etc? Cheers, MP |

Re: Request for Information on Ju-88C-2 Pilot Notes and cockpit and external views
OK, here goes. Potentially another "flaming" thread. I just ask persons to be nice, because so happens, I know this subject extremely well, also because of recently discovered info on the first Ju 88 Z / C-1 building program and can answer this for the Ju 88 C-2 in most part. The IL2 "skinners" (no offence meant) still need do picture/drawing research for this, by finding every Ju 88 book or magazine article on the market, beacuse there is no single source.
Once again, even the most recent Ju 88 books ("booklet"?) fail in their research, blending in photos of the various versions and variants. Still writing about Ju 88 A-0s (!) and showing Me 210/410 undercarriage as example of gear rotating thrugh 90 degrees (Kagero Ju 88 Monograph 3rd edition, 2014, P.45) Basically they were conversions, and coming from different periods, but (basically) based on the Ju 88 A-1 (early) Dive-Bomber, Ju 88 A-1 (later) Dive-Bomber and Ju 88 A-5 (later) Dive Bomber production. Copyrighted Ju 88 C-2 colour side profile will follow, when uploading to external host is done. Last edited by edNorth; 1st June 2015 at 22:30. |

Re: Request for Information on Ju-88C-2 Pilot Notes and cockpit and external views
Hi Ed, no offence taken as regards 'skinners' but the guys doing this work are 3D modellers and as such are looking for images that show specific difference/changes between this and earlier A variants so they can create an accurate version. Differences ( I presume) would include a (or more than one) switch to activate the extra guns on the front so knowing where that was positioned would be useful. It's the small but extra details that are required to make the jnterior model as accurate as possible and also the external differences for a similar reason.
Looking forward to any information you can supply. Cheers, MP |

Re: Request for Information on Ju-88C-2 Pilot Notes and cockpit and external views
OK. Hope all stick to "be nice".
The "earlier Ju 88 A variants" were prototypes, and Ju 88 A-1 (plain) with four blader props (and HF antenna under the right side of fuselage), but these same A-1 changed to three bladers (no designation changes) after autumn 1939 (and "A-0" version did not exist), All were A-1´s! None of these became Ju 88 C-2´s. Qoutation "O-Serien" (same as "Vorserie") often seen in German documents does not mean designation Ju 88 A-0, rather just the first seven W.Nr. 0001 to 0007 were Serie 0, then Serie 1 and Serie 2. Serie 3 and onwards became the "Grossserien" A-1 and A-5. The Ju 88 C-1 came in Serie 10 and after that, but were NOT an separate bach. These were tested using "Z/1" (0096 ex-A-1/U16) but others were converted on assembly, with planes getting "numbering Z/1 to Z/20". One (unspecified) "crashed" fuselage (Bruch-Zelle) was used for shooting research (pussibly tested to destruction). The su Last edited by edNorth; 1st June 2015 at 22:13. |

And TOCH! "fiery dragon" ate the link to the Ju 88 C-2 drawing. Did re-insert link. Did not wait for anyone to have look in the trashbin..

I have re-inserted, but it "dissappeared"...
so here is, again, Ju 88 C-2 aircraft, W.Nr. not confirmed. http://i58.tinypic.com/33cavrc.jpg Kv. Eggert |

Re: Request for Information on Ju-88C-2 Pilot Notes and cockpit and external views
There is much of last sentences in comment #4 gone, not merely link.
I can not re-insert this exactly. I did not save it. In there somwhere was reference to "Aero Detail No. 20" (Japanese text). This featured Ju 88 C-1 0880133 4D+FH in Norway. Putting longer wings on this, that would create Ju 88 C-2 (1st version) as surviours were upgraded with the longer wingspan (from 18,375 to 20,080 mm) #2 conversion lot got Longer wings at same thime as armament in nose, these all had W.Nr. below 0400. The third lot, were from A-5 version, had longer wings already and recieving armament in nose. Last edited by edNorth; 2nd June 2015 at 00:39. Reason: re-write of contents missing in comment #4 |
