P-51 Mustang with rare cammo

The link below brings some photos of a P-51 Mustang applied with an experimental paint scheme. Does anyone know the name or if this cammo was used operationally?

Good evening

The background of photo # 1 looks a bit like an aircraft museum/exibition or an a/c proving ground.

This Allison-engine P-51 was painted as an experiment in the 1941 USA and USAAF war-games in Louisiana.

Re: P-51 Mustang with rare cammo

Hello,

CAMOUFLAGE TESTS.

Whilst shadow shading , haze paint, and anti-submarine camouflages had their operational phases , other camouflage experiments , often successful, never saw service. The best known of these was a "confusion camouflage" tested by the AAF Proving Ground Command at Eglin Field in mid-1943. The sides and undersurfaces of a P-51A were repainted with a black and white disruptive pattern in an effort to divert attention to focal points away from the aircraft, disrupt perception, and make the aircraft appear smaller. The scheme, however, proved ineffective in flight tests.

Here is the caption (in my reference), to your photo No.3:

Captain Paul L. Hexter (center) supervises the application of the first "confusion camouflage" at Eglin. The white areas of this P-51A were masked with paper prior to application of the black, Upper surfaces remained Olive Drab. A recon window has been fitted behind the cockpit (USAF).
