5(H) 32 claim
Recently I purchased a document group to Oberleutnant Uwe Baumann, Baumann served as an Observer for most of his career with 1/Aufklarungsstaffel 122 but did spend 3 days (8.11.40-11.11.40) between this unit and his training unit with 5(H) 32 doing air/sea rescue service. This information was obtained from his Wehrpas.
According to Baumanns flugbuch he indicates an "abschuss" over a Spitfire on 11.11.40. The duration of his flight was 11:32-12:39. According to John Foreman's "Battle of Britain" The forgotten months, there was an action on 11 Nov. 40 between a Spitfire of 41 Sqn. and a Hs126 of 5(H)32 but it indicates the former claiming a victory. 5(H)32 did indicate a damaged Hs126 returning to St. Ingevert where they were based. Unfortunately there is no info. as to how many aircraft 5(H)32 had in the air or if this was the only aircraft, if so it is reasonable to assume it was Baumann.
The 41 Sqn pilot also indicates silencing the rear gunner, Baumann's flugbuch does not indicate injury to any crew, he or Fw. Lyko.
Any thoughts
Cheers
Jeremy
