Re: Chartres airfield raid, 26th May 1944

Hi,

thanks a lot.
Were there just these 2 groups involved? Are there any information available about the escort?

Regards
Wojtek

Re: Chartres airfield raid, 26th May 1944

Subject to review, I have the 358th Fighter Group escorting B-26's to Chartres on this date. The 362nd FG took A-20's to Beaumont Sur Oise, the 406th FG took medium bombers to Beauvais, the 363rd FG escorted B-26's to the Abbeville area, and the 36th FG took mediums to the Vernon area. These were the only 9 Air Force fighter groups which flew escort missions on this date as far as I know.
