Ju88A-5 No.0880625 - unknown loss 12.May.43?

Hello gentlemen,

have found an inspection act about Ju88 downed 12.May.43

As it written in the act:
Ju88A-5 No.0880625, motors 96080A and 76-45-14, fuselage No. F914
One crewmember KIA, two has escaped [and no info about 4th crewmember in the act].

Is something known about that plane and/or the motors?

Fuselage No. F914 is actually fuselage code "F.9+14" (or serial F.914 if one looks at it that way).
This was Ju 88 A-5 (Recce plane) handed over to Hungary (transfer date not given) according to BA-MA document RL 2/III 681 on transfers to RHAF (dated 21.09.43.)

About October 1941 it carried code 7A+MH of 1.(F)/121 in Greece.

Had Ju 88 A-5 (early) rear canopy with light-twin-gun mounts; VDM props and early tip rudder (A-1/5); see photo in Squadron-Signal No.85 by Brian Filley “Junkers Ju 88 in Action” P.47
Engines likely Jumo 211 C or G

Interesting that it labeled as Ju88D-2 instead of Ju88A-5 in the subscript.

Hi Andrey, Correct is Ju 88 A-5 (with spaces, please) - and there has been so much "wrongs" written on Ju 88, and "the new" books are no better, because they are not based on research, only rewrite of old books etc. Besides the 0625 was A-5 version built before the D-2 came along ... and .. D-2 was not same plane as A-5. The D-2 was like the D-1 (cameras not in bomb-bay), but had (older) A-5 engines.

This loss was not known to me, and not in any Luftwaffe document I know of,
so thanks. I have no idea on where or how crew escaped. Most likely they were Hungarian.

I try to establish a situation with activity and losses of Luftflotte 4 in the context of Kuban air battles in April-June 1943, related topic is:

The problem is a great discrepancy between Abgang in "Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen" and piece-by-piece calculation of the losses and damages from GQM returns.

Hungarian Air Forces weren't on Kuban but their unknown losses in Luftflotte 4 area creates an uncertainty in analysis of Luftwaffe units losses. Many Soviet inspection acts about downed Axis planes contains a detailed description of the damages but unfortunately none digit or letter from the aircraft (WNr, board code etc). So the comparison with GQM returns is possibly by type of aircraft and date/place of the loss only.

Maybe Dénes Bernád can help with Hungarian AF losses for April-June 1943.
