Poles in 9th AF
Could any of USAAF specialists help me to find further information on two Polish airmen posted to 9th AF? Very little is known about Cpt. Marian Skubala who flew with 552nd BS/386th BG and Cpt. Zbigniew Osuchowski who served with 387th BG. According to well known photo Skubala “received US Army Soldier’s Medal for his heroic rescue of the crew of a crashed Marauder bomber in which he flew as navigator on a mission over Holland.” Osuchowski was decorated with Air Medal by Lt.Gen. Brereton. Any details of their service in USAAF will be of great help.
