609 Squadron - Mitchell - 11 July 1940 Spitfire lettering
Hi
I'm putting together an article concerning 609 Squadron pilot Gordon Mitchell, shot down on 11 July 1940. The Spitfire he was flying was L1095 but I am having a lot of trouble finding any details about the lettering - PR - ? . There is nothing in the ORBs or combat reports. Can anyone help? Thanks Steve Darlow

If it exists it will be in the appendices to Frank Ziegler's book on 609 edited and revised by me (Under the White Rose). If not, I think you are out of luck. If interested, I have some photos of Mitchell

Via the 609 Squadron association we've tried that avenue but no luck. Yes please Chris I would be very interested in any pics of Mitchell. Is it possible to e-mail them so I can have a look - stephen.darlow@btinternet.com Thanks Steve

609 Sqn Association would have got the info from me in any case!

Sorry just the one pre-war photo of him with 2 other pilots. He might be in some sqn group photos I have but I cannot be sure Chris
