Re: III/KG27 losses February 1941.

Thanks very much George, I have for the Moritz crew that this a/c may have belonged to 9/KG27 hence my querie.

For the Putz crew I had this loss as on 23.2.41, whereas in the "Luftwaffe Crash
Archive" vol.7 pg.809 they refer this as 25.2.41!
Would you happen to have the EKM.No's for these two crews.
Best rgs,
Steve.

Re: III/KG27 losses February 1941.

Hi Steve , the crash of 1G+LS happened on February 23rd , 1941 . This aircraft is listed as crashing in Kenmare Bay in Co.Kerry but it is possible it may have come down out at sea and the body of Fw Friedrich Schutz and his life raft were bought in by currents . His body was recovered on March 2nd by three local fishermen , I spoke to two of them some years ago when researching this crash for my book . Friedrich Schutz was buried in Kenmare with a full military funeral and on 12th June 1959 his body was reburied in The German Military Cemetery in Glencree , Co. Wicklow .
The bodies of the other crew members were never recovered , I do have contact with the daughter of Oblt. Konrad Hafele who has some wonderful material from her late father .
If you need more material just PM me .
Regards
Justin

Re: III/KG27 losses February 1941.

Steve,
My source for Schutz EKM 62693/47 is from the German War Graves Commission list and DRS (Daily Report Summary) Irish Military Archives (Dublin)

Does your un named poster quoting 62693/27 list a source ?

For srob48 my records show Putz EKM 62693/11. Hafele 62691-4 and Seegner 62693/39
Hope this helps.
Regards
Tony K
