Loss of Oblt. Georg Wedemeyer in He 162
Gentlemen and interested,
Oblt. Georg Wedemeyer was killed in his He 162 on February 4th, 1945. The cause was probably an engine failure. Has anyone details about that crash? I am not 100% sure about the date as well. Thanks for your help! Kurt |

Re: Loss of Oblt. Georg Wedemeyer in He 162
Hi Kurt,
He 162 M6 W.Nr. 200006 VI+IF according to some sources was built with the straight wings that had stability problems. Its first flight was on 23 January 1945 with a BMW 003 E engine and was used for armament trials. I do not know the provenance of the caption in "Wings Palette" but it ascribes the crash to a "jammed rudder". best regards, Jim Geens Last edited by Karoband; 16th March 2016 at 17:49.
