disbanment of III./JG 26 and Krupinski
Hi all,
according to Robert Forsyth‘s JV44,Krupinski recalled the unexpectedly disbandment of his Gruppen on 25 March 1945 Quote:
If it was true,I believe it was more likely occurred before March, rather than after III./JG 26 had disbanded. we all knew Priller had been relieved of the command of JG 26 since 27 January 1945,and after III./JG 26 disbanded, its pilots were split among the other three Gruppen immediately Best regards, cheesin |

Re: disbanment of III./JG 26 and Krupinski
I have evidence from Lw. Kdo. West daily reports that III./JG 26 was operating on 7 March 1945:
III./JG 26: 17 Fw 190 retraining NW of Rheine from 14.45–15.45 had an air combat. Air battle with about 20 Tempests and Typhoons. Personnel: 0–3–1 Material: 1–3–0 III./JG 26: 4 Fw 190 made a fighter sweep in area Krefeld – Xanten – Emmerich from 13.30–14.00 without sighting enemy. No casualties. |
