Dornier Do 17 U factory plate

Greetings! Is it possible to identify the part it is from or even something about the aircraft itself? It probably belonged to the Transportgruppe Herzog or Aufklärungsstaffel 4.(F)/Nacht. Thanks in advance!

It appears to be W.Nr. 2437. Interesting and rare finding. It should be possible to identify the part with an Ersatzteilliste. The L suggest that it was Links, that is a part which were used in two positions, for example a landing gear door or similar.

Thank you very much! I haven't seen wrecks of Do 17's standing on the place of find or anywhere else on the end-war photos which are known to me, but it's the second plate from it (first-not mine-was version E2, W.Nr. probably 2037)

Today I found another one. Same Sach Nr. as well as Werk Nr. It should be left (or left part of) engine cover. I didn't know one part had two plates.

Another one, better shape.

Another one from last week. I didn't know that even such a big part as engine cover could have two plates.

Re: Dornier Do 17 U factory plate

They are from two different parts since a part only had one plate. If they are from an engine cover (which is a good idea), there would be two similar parts, since there were two engines. Same goes for wheel bay doors, there would be two right wheel bay doors, and two left. Both whould have the same content on their plates since they would be interchangeble with each other. As I said above, check with a Truppenersatzteilliste and you will get the answer
