Bf110 G-3 Reconnaissance aircraft

Hi guys
I'm looking for some informations about the little known Bf110 G-3 reconnaissance aircraft.

According to http://www.historyofwar.org/articles...s_bf_110G.html only 179 of these aircrafts were built. They had a short life in the reconnaissance role and were soon converted to G-2 heavy fighters in summer 1943 to reinforce the Reichsverteidigung. Is this correct?

According to www.ww2.dk however some G-3 were still in service with NAGr.1 & NAGr.2 in summer 1944, so not all of them had been coverted to G-2’s in 1943?

Thanks a lot for any information.

Harry
