Ju 88, W.Nr. 300628
From the website of the French Museum of the Resistance; said to have been shot down during August 1944 at Loriol in the Rhône Valley:
http://www.museedelaresistanceenlign...true#fiche-tab From the location, not far from the aerodrome at Valence, it's possibly II./KG 26 but does anyone have anything more about this machine? |

Re: Ju 88, W.Nr. 300628
4. & 5./KG 26 lost four Ju 88 A-´s on 19.08.44,
(excluding 800614 3Z+HK of 2./KG 26): three 5./KG 26 "10 km south of Lyon" (incl. A-17 1H+KN), one A-17 "fighter fire" 4./KG 26 near Valence (W.Nr. and code´s unknown) There appears be "1" hidden under RLM 02 overspray on fuselage so agree. One piece in gigant puzzle. Ed |

Re: Ju 88, W.Nr. 300628
To add crews wounded during air-fighting, where no damage for planes are given, so probably half a dozen candidates, those 10 km south of Lyon seems to be far from the show ! plane seems to hv landed controled or half-controled ..oder..

Re: Ju 88, W.Nr. 300628
This photo also intrigued me a lot. I met a few months ago a person who was just a little girl when she witnessed the crash of a German plane in "La Poulate" (Etoile-sur-Rhône) August 13, 1944. Unable to successfully identify this plane I went with her today at the scene. I took a panoramic photograph of the place. Currently the road has changed and is no longer possible to go precisely on the crash site. The picture I show you was taken 60 meters south of this location. Look closely: the relief of "Ardèche" mountains in the background. This is very similar. I questioned the fact that in August the trees should have leaves (in the picture there is not ...). She said that these trees (in 1944, no longer exist in 2016) had died because of the drought. What do you think ?
