He 111 from KG 55 shot down
Hello,
on 28th May 1943 was a He 111 from 14./KG 55 (FF Mitrach Kurt) shot down on the south front in Ukraine. Does anybody know the Verbandkennzeichen? G1+?? With regards Miro |

FF Ofw. Kurt Mitratsch, B Ogefr. Hans Preickechak, Bf Uffz. Ernst Borchardt, Bm Gefr. Max Ziebolz & Bs Ogefr. Hubert Gasch MIA 28.May 1943 on a mission to the Krapotkin railroad station. Reference: Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (microfilm roll #10)-Vol.18 Note variation in spelling of pilot's name (Mitrach / Mitratsch), perhaps Matti can clarify the discrepancy. GRM |

one more question. On 11th June 1943 was shot down one antother He 111 from the 14. (Eis.) Staffel. Area Kantsmirowsky-Rossosch. Crew members: Oblt Diesselhorst Friedrich Uffz Hartl Josef Uffz Britsch Bruno Uffz Jung Willi Uffz Klaus Werner Please, I need the Verbandkennzeinen and eventually also the Werknummer. Miro |

A question about the last of these losses. Since the partisan group on Seschinskaya airfield began to place magnetic mines on German aircraft around this time, is it possible that Major Lorenz's crew was lost to such a mine? Of course, a crash near the airfield could have been caused by any number of reasons, and the hypothesis can be rejected if the infromation in Doug and Larry's database is true. They wrote the following: "16.06.43 Maj., in Gruppenstab II./KG 55, MIA – in He 111 H overdue on a ferry flight to Seshchinskaya on the central sector of the Eastern Front." Regards, Paul |
