Pictures taken by US AAA unit in that area.....there were other pictures (also Ju 52 near Aldenhoven on 17.12.44) but these were identified.... The Ju 88G-1is the big unknown....

Re: Ju 88G-1 lost December 1944

As there was a photo of the Ju 52 at Aldenhoven ( G6+DU of 10/TG4 ? ) could the G-1 be the 3C+SR of 7/NJG 4 which came down in the same area at Linnich at 0600hrs on the 25th ?

Re: Ju 88G-1 lost December 1944

Regarding some of the Ju88s mentioned in posts above:

Ju88G-6 W.Nr. 620587 4R+BM (ADI(K) gives sub-type as G-1)
Lt. Wolfram MÖCKEL
24/12/44, 23:30h, near Hasselt, Belgium

Ju88G-6 W.Nr. 621313 4R+KK
Ofw. Heinrich TETZLAFF
25/12/44, 03:45h, near Stevensweerd, 7.5 mi. S.W. of Roemond

Ju88G-1 W.Nr. 712224 3C+SR
Ofw. Otto LECHNER
25/12/44, did not crash over Allied territory, Uffz. Frank baled out and was captured. Ju88 returned to German territory and was abandoned near "Körzenich"(sic). Ofw. Lechner later KIA on 14/2/45. (note - one of four Ju88s from December 1944 that have ADI(K) Reports but where the aircraft did not crash in Allied territory, only a crew member baled out and was captured. The other three are in ADI(K) Report Nos. 12/45, 15/45, and 26/45)

...and from combining data from German sources and the Studiegroep Luchtoorlog 1939-1945 (SGLO) Verieslijst:

Ju88G-6 W.Nr. 620170 4R+BN (german sources) R4+*N (SGLO)
Ofw. Karl LUBENKA
23/12/44, Ressen, Holland

there is no mention in the SGLO register of the 5./NJG3 loss at Meyel given by Rémi, but there is from 5./NJG4:

Ju88G-1 W.Nr. 711299 3C+GN
Fw. Hans-Dietrich STÄNGLEN
23/12/44 (german records), 24/12/44 (SGLO), Meijel (Vennedijk) (note - Meyel and Meijel have two distinct spellings in the SGLO register, although the former is only used in relation to Allied losses)

Cheers

Rod
