First use of REVI 3a
Hi all,
I am trying to estimate date of first use of REVI 3a/b gunsight. Now I know(I have picture or manual drawing) it was used on Ar 68(in service from 1936), FW 56(in service from 1935) and He 51(in service from 1934-but I dont have picture or drawing) . Does anybody have picture or manual drawing with this gunsight in first luftwaffe fighters Ar 64 and Ar 65(He 51)??? Or any clues when was production of this gungsight started? |

Re: First use of REVI 3a
Bf 109B had REVI 12 see this link http://old.messerschmitt-bf109.de/ph...pit-bf109b.php , and there are more pictures in many publication. I think only swiss bf 109e had revi 3a.
But thanks... I am interested which aircraft started using revi 3 as first... |

Re: First use of REVI 3a
The Revi 3 series includes the 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d.
The Revi 3a & 3c were 12 volt units, the Revi 3b & 3d were 24 volt units. The Revi 3 series also vary in the way the units mount to the instrument panel. I have seen Revi 3c's with two different Fl.#'s (Fl. 52085 & 52116) which I am guessing indicates the different mount type. Besides the aircraft you have listed I have seen pictures of Revi 3's installed in the Hs-126, Ju-87 and Bf-109. The early Bf-109 could use either the Revi 3 or C12. There are pictures of Bf-109B,C/D/E with Revi 3 or C12, not sure if there was any reason which model got which gun sight. I have never seen a positively identified Revi 3a or 3b in pictures (other than the manual) or in any collection. There are a reasonable amount of 3c & 3d that have survived. I believe the Swiss Revi 3's can be identified by an "A" that prefixes the serial number,e.g. Revi 3c A 446, Revi 3d A 731. I also have not seen any "A" prefixed Revi 3's that contained an Fl#. The German Revi 3's will have an "Nr." that prefixes the serial number, e.g. Revi 3c Nr. 3500, Revi 3c Nr. 3841. The German Revi 3's normally have an Fl# applied as well. The Finns also used the Revi 3 (possibly a locally produced copy). In short I would guess the Revi 3 series was used in various aircraft starting around the 1935-1936 time period. Re: First use of REVI 3a
Thanks for answer REVI16. I positive identified REVI 3a/b on the pictures of FW 56 and in manual for AR 68. I know there are some pictures of revi 3 in Bf 109 but in manuals for versions B,C,D... is REVI 12 as standard. But what I need is info about Ar 64 and 65(and picture of HE 51). I think you are right Revi 3 series was used starting by year 1934(in case of he 51), probably 1935(in case of Fw 56), but it is only guessing.
If we know what type of gunsight was used in Ar 64(in service from summer 1932) and Ar 65(in service from 1933) we can be sure. I know the manual for Ar 65 exist...Please can someone help me... |

Re: First use of REVI 3a
What is the source of that picture??? Here are some pictures from germany manuals for Bf 109E and BF109 picture from Spain. I have also Manual for bf-109C where is REVI 12(but I dont have it now I am on bussines trip). I think the use of Revi 3 in bf-109 was more or less rare. But that is only my opinion... About the REVi 3a/b here are some pictures of ar 68 and Fw 56... I have also the pictures of REVI 3a/b in He 112 and HS 123...
